Careers
Join the team at Mako Logics.
A 25-year Houston managed IT firm. Small team, senior engineers, clients who stay a decade or more. Every engineer is a college graduate and TWIC®-credentialed. No tier-one runaround, no reseller trench-coats — real engineering work for real Houston-area businesses.
Who we hire
The bar, in plain English.
The team today is small and senior for a reason. These are the things we consistently look for across every role.
College degree
Every engineer on the Mako team is a college graduate. Not because of a paper requirement — because we find the depth, the written communication, and the ability to reason through unfamiliar problems tracks with it.
TWIC® eligible
A lot of our on-site work happens at chemical plants, refineries, and port-adjacent industrial facilities. Every engineer carries a Transportation Worker Identification Credential. If you don't have one, we'll sponsor the process — you just have to be eligible.
Stacked certifications (or on the path)
CompTIA, Microsoft, Cisco, Azure, AWS, security certifications. We pay for training and exam fees for the certs that match your role. We care about working knowledge more than the badge, but the badge is how the industry shows its work.
Plain-English communication
Our clients are business owners and operators, not IT people. Mako engineers translate complexity into plain English without being condescending. If you've ever been the person in the room who explains the technical answer so the CFO actually gets it, we want to talk.
Accountability
Small team, small client book, long relationships. There is no anonymity and no 'tier one passes it to tier two who passes it back.' If you took the ticket, you own it until it's resolved.
What you’ll work on
Real engineering work across a real book.
Depending on your role, expect to touch most of these over time.
- ✓Managed IT for compliance-heavy Houston businesses — energy, healthcare, legal, CPAs, construction, professional services.
- ✓Cybersecurity: EDR/MXDR tuning, email security hardening, phishing simulation programs, incident response, vendor-risk questionnaires.
- ✓Microsoft 365 tenants, Azure/AWS migrations, on-prem server work, hybrid cloud architectures.
- ✓Network engineering — Cisco Meraki and Ubiquiti deployments, SD-WAN, VLAN segmentation, carrier-side work for dedicated-internet and fiber cutovers.
- ✓Colocation inside the Westland Bunker (Tier III data center) for clients who need it — you'll be on-site in the Bunker regularly if your role is infrastructure-heavy.
- ✓Compliance work: HIPAA, CMMC, WISP (for CPAs), FCRA, DOT-program controls, cyber-insurance questionnaires.
- ✓AI adoption support — Copilot, ChatGPT Enterprise, Claude for Work, Gemini for Workspace — deploying these inside client environments with proper governance.
- ✓Mako Studio web work on a subset of engagements, for clients who also want the website handled.
And what you won’t
- Sit on a phone script. We don't run a tier-one help desk in that sense.
- Rebuild every client from scratch every three years. Our clients stay for a decade-plus on average, so you're maturing environments, not resetting them.
- Pretend a reseller partnership is the same as operational experience. We own the work.
- Travel out of state. Our footprint is Houston metro and surrounding Texas; we follow existing clients into Louisiana occasionally, but the job is regional.
Open roles
No formal postings open right now.
We hire carefully and we hire seldom. When a role opens, we post it here first. In between, we’re always interested in hearing from experienced engineers in the Houston metro — managed IT, network, cybersecurity, senior support, or adjacent infrastructure roles.
If your background is a good fit for Mako, send us your resume and a short note. We read every one. If we have a role that might fit now, we’ll be in touch; if not, we’ll keep you in mind when one opens.
How to apply
- Email support@makologics.com with the subject line Careers — [Role name or “General Interest”].
- Attach your resume as a PDF. Include your certifications and your TWIC® status (holding or eligible).
- Write a short note telling us what kind of work you’re looking for, when you can start, and what you’re looking for on compensation. We’d rather have an honest conversation up front than waste everyone’s time.
- We’ll acknowledge the email within two business days, even if the answer is “no fit right now.”
Equal opportunity
Mako Logics LLC is an equal opportunity employer. We evaluate every applicant on their skills, their track record, and their fit for the specific work — not on race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, veteran status, or any other protected characteristic. We’re a small Houston firm that needs every hire to count, and we hire the best person for the job, every time.
