Energy & Industrial Services

The MSP for NDT, inspection, O&G consulting, petrochem, and industrial manufacturing.

The industry

Houston is the energy capital of the world. Inspection firms, NDT service providers, O&G consultancies, and industrial manufacturers run on tight schedules, regulatory documentation, and zero tolerance for downtime in the field. IT that doesn't understand this industry becomes part of the problem.

Why Mako fits

We've been supporting energy and industrial services clients across Houston for 25 years. We understand API, DOT, TSA, and CMMC documentation requirements. We know what it means when a field crew is waiting on VPN access at 5 a.m.

What breaks

Common problems for energy & industrial businesses.

  • Field operations that can't go down — crews in the field waiting for IT is money burning

  • Inspection data, reports, and engineering files that must be preserved for audit trails

  • API, DOT, TSA, and CMMC documentation requirements treated as part of compliance, not IT housekeeping

  • Sensitive geological and engineering data that can't live on a reseller's cloud nobody can inspect

  • Multi-location coordination between office, shop, and field

  • Legacy line-of-business applications (ERP, inspection software, asset integrity platforms) that don't tolerate generic cloud migrations

  • Seasonal and project-based workforce with rapid onboarding/offboarding needs

Built for energy & industrial

Services tuned to how you actually work.

TWIC® site access — every engineer credentialed

Every Mako engineer holds a Transportation Worker Identification Credential. That clears the TSA-level background check chemical plants, refineries, and port terminals along the Houston Ship Channel require for contractor access — so we can be sponsored and on-site quickly instead of waiting weeks for vetting. Escort requirements still vary by facility.

Field-ready remote access

VPN, Zero Trust Network Access, and MDM configurations designed for crews that work outside the office more than inside it.

Compliance documentation support

Patch compliance reporting, access audit logs, and backup verification — the evidence auditors actually ask for.

Inspection & engineering software support

We work with the line-of-business platforms your industry actually uses — ProVision, Ultrapipe, ERP systems, and CAD tools.

Data retention and archival

Long-retention archival for inspection records and reports that may need to be produced years later.

Co-managed IT for in-house teams

Partnership with your internal IT that lets your people focus on shop-floor support while we handle security, infrastructure, and after-hours coverage.

CMMC readiness for DoD-adjacent work

For shops bidding on defense supply-chain contracts, we help map to CMMC Level 1-2 requirements.

FAQ

Energy & Industrial — common questions.

Do you have experience with our specific inspection / NDT / LOB software?+

We work with most major inspection and asset integrity platforms across our client base. Tell us the specific system and we'll be honest about our experience with it — and when we don't have direct experience, we say so.

Can you handle CMMC Level 2 readiness?+

Yes. We help map your environment to CMMC controls, close the gaps, and document evidence. For the third-party assessment itself, we coordinate with a C3PAO — we don't issue the certification.

What about field device management for crews in the field?+

MDM enrollment for ruggedized tablets and phones, with policies tuned for field conditions (offline caching, asset tracking, remote wipe for lost devices).

We have an in-house IT team. Would you still be a fit?+

Often yes — that's co-managed IT. Your internal team stays in charge of what they know; we backstop them on security, after-hours, and the compliance-heavy work.

Do you work with pure O&G operators or just services firms?+

Both, though our deepest client density is in inspection, NDT, asset integrity, and related technical services. Operators are a good fit when operational continuity and data integrity matter.
