Construction

IT that keeps up with job sites, subs, and the estimating software your PMs run on.

The industry

Houston construction doesn't wait for IT. Trailers go up, crews show up, subs need access on day one, and the PM needs Procore working before the foundation is poured. Add in prevailing-wage compliance, OSHA documentation, change orders measured in six figures, and port-adjacent projects that demand TWIC® — and IT stops being a back-office function and starts being a daily enabler of the job.

Why Mako fits

We run IT for GCs, MEP trades, and specialty subs across Houston metro. Job-site trailers, Procore and Bluebeam, mobile field supers, rapid sub onboarding, and TWIC®-credentialed engineers for port, petrochem, and chemical-plant projects. We show up on-site — not in a ticket queue.

What breaks

Common problems for construction businesses.

  • Job-site trailer connectivity — cellular failover, starlink backup, and VPN that doesn't drop during a concrete pour

  • Procore, Bluebeam, PlanSwift, and Sage 300 CRE (or Foundation, Viewpoint) reliability

  • Mobile device management for supers, foremen, and field crews running tablets on dusty sites

  • Daily-log and OSHA-30 documentation retention that auditors can actually retrieve

  • Rapid onboarding and offboarding of subs, seasonal trades, and project-based staff

  • Plan-set and revision retention — the 2019 drawings matter when a defect shows up in 2029

  • Port-adjacent, petrochem, and chemical-plant project access (TWIC®, facility-specific badging)

  • Estimating and pre-construction software (PlanSwift, Destini, On-Screen Takeoff) that can't go down during a bid week

Built for construction

Services tuned to how you actually work.

Job-site trailer IT

Pre-packaged trailer kits — firewall, switch, WAP, cellular/Starlink failover, VPN pre-config — so a new site is online in hours, not weeks.

Procore, Bluebeam, and construction-LOB support

Integrations, user provisioning, performance tuning, and honest backup of the platforms your PMs live in every day.

Field device management

MDM for tablets and phones tuned for field conditions — offline caching, rugged-device profiles, remote wipe for lost hardware.

TWIC®-credentialed on-site work

Every Mako engineer holds a TWIC®, so we're pre-vetted for port-adjacent, petrochem, and chemical-plant projects where contractor access isn't trivial.

Rapid sub onboarding / offboarding

Templated provisioning workflows for new subs and seasonal staff — access turns on fast and closes on day one of demob.

Plan-set and compliance retention

Long-retention archival for drawings, revisions, daily logs, RFIs, and safety documentation. Searchable when the litigation letter arrives years later.

FAQ

Construction — common questions.

Do you support Procore / Bluebeam / Sage 300 CRE / our specific LOB software?+

We work with most major construction platforms across our client base. Tell us the specific system and we'll be honest about our experience — if we haven't worked with it before, we'll say so and we'll research it on our own dime before the engagement starts.

Can you actually stand up a job-site trailer fast?+

Yes. We keep pre-configured trailer kits on hand (firewall, switch, WAP, cellular/Starlink failover, VPN). New site can be online the same day once physical connectivity is available.

What about projects at chemical plants or the Port of Houston?+

Every Mako engineer holds a TWIC®, which clears the federal background check those facilities require. We can be sponsored and on-site fast instead of starting contractor vetting from zero. Escort requirements still vary by facility — we work within each site's rules.

Can you integrate with our project-management workflow for sub onboarding?+

Yes. We build the provisioning workflow around your existing PM stack — Procore, Microsoft 365, your HR system — so sub access opens and closes cleanly as projects move through their phases.

We already have an internal IT person. Would you still fit?+

Often yes — co-managed. Your internal person stays in charge of the day-to-day. We backstop on after-hours, security, field-site rollouts, and the work that doesn't fit into one person's calendar.
